With 25,833 square feet dedicated to cold storage and 36,597 square feet reserved for dry storage, LANCO’s facility is equipped to handle the warehousing needs of its chief export: fresh flowers. The warehouse also complies with the highest environmental standards, a representative from LAN Cargo said.
LAN Cargo CEO Cristián Ureta believes the $7 million investment speaks volumes about LANCO’s dedication to the safe handling of goods. “This investment reaffirms LANCO’s commitment to the growth of the air cargo export industry in South America by supporting safety, quality and efficiency to customers in the Colombian flower industry,” he said in a statement.
What’s more, Ureta said, “These new facilities make it possible for customers of LANCO and LAN Cargo to increase competitiveness, guarantee continued cold chain, and save time and resources in the export process.”
Expediting the transportation process is also important to LAN Cargo. Handling 47,300 tonnes of airfreight in 2010, the company expects to more than double that number this year.
