By control on December 9, 2011
  • Adria Airways has extended its 20-plus-year freight-handling contract with Fraport Cargo Services. The Slovenian flag carrier currently operates 220 flights throughout Europe each week.
  • Globe Express Services has opened corporate offices in Beijing, Moscow, Abu Dhabi and Nanjing, China. The addition of these locations brings the total number of GES offices to 49, just one facility short of the logistic provider’s goal to establish 50 offices by 2012.
  • Russia’s Transaero Airlines has ordered eight A320neos following the MoU it signed with Airbus in August. The aircraft will be used on both Transaero’s domestic and international routes and represent the first A320neos to enter an Eastern European carrier’s fleet.
  • Kalitta Air has finalized its order for one Boeing 747-400 extended-range freighter, which it plays to deploy on international routes. The aircraft is expected to enter Kalitta’s fleet by December 15 and marks the first new plane procured by the all-cargo carrier in its history. In other news, Air Lease Corp. has finalized its order for four Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners and four Next-Generation 737-800s, a purchase valued at more than $1.2 billion.
