AA formalizes with global freight network

By control on January 17, 2013

American Airlines Cargo has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Global Logistics Network (GLN) as part of an effort to extend its sales activities to a broader range of customers.

GLN, founded in 2003, has a worldwide membership of 423 independently owned and operated logistics companies, including freight forwarders, transportation intermediaries and associated companies – all working together in a network environment. The members’ combined annual revenues total $8.7 billion, they employ more than 21,000 individuals and handle five million shipments per year, making the GLN network larger than many multinational forwarders.

Following a signing ceremony at its Fort Worth headquarters, Roger Samways, managing director of global accounts and sales strategy for American Airlines Cargo, said, “We have been looking at prospective network partners where there is potential to expand existing business. With GLN, I believe we have found such a partner where we can develop a relationship which is mutually beneficial.

"By working closely together in a more formal way, we hope to be able to build upon the relationship which we already have with some of GLN members and increase the business development opportunities for both parties.”
