  • mercator, a provider of aviation IT services and part of the Emirates Group, and United Airlines joined forces to migrate the airline’s cargo logistics and revenue accounting systems to mercator’s SkyChain and RAPID Cargo services. It has created one of the largest cargo IT services in the airline industry. The migration has helped United Airlines move away from around 20 legacy systems, saving millions in operational costs.
  • Volga-Dnepr Group launched its 3rd international photographic competition for professional and amateur aviation photographers taking pictures of its An-124-100, IL-76TD-90VD and Boeing 747 fleet. Photo entries can be uploaded to, and site visitors can help choose the winners by voting for their favorite photos. The closing date for entries and votes is Oct. 15.
  • AMI, a trade-only airfreight and express wholesaler, now provides service to freight agents in Miami. AMI is offering airport-to-airport, airport-to-door and door-to-door services with the option of direct or consolidation pricing. Since it opened in Miami, AMI has handled eight urgent shipments to Africa, five tonnes of food supplements to Brazil and an aircraft engine to Dublin.
