  • Rushlift Ltd. and Virgin Atlantic Airways agreed on a contract for Rushlift to supply and maintain ground support equipment to the airline. The contract involves Rushlift supplying Virgin with a new fleet of ground support equipment, used mainly in aircraft maintenance both in the hangar and on stand at Heathrow Airport. The agreement will be extended to cover Virgin operations at Gatwick airport. Rushlift will provide full maintenance cover, including an immediate response if equipment fails and prevents an aircraft from departing.
  • Following the recent appointment of Heavyweight Air Express FZCO as total cargo management company by nasair, the Saudi national carrier, Heavyweight has now appointed Turkish cargo GSSA Kargosistem as its sub-GSSA representing nasair’s flights from Turkey. nasair flies twice weekly from Istanbul to Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, and daily to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, using A320 aircraft.
  • Swiss WorldCargo will begin Sunday a daily A320 flight to Kiev, Ukraine.
  • Qatar Airways will begin four weekly nonstop flights to Miami International Airport from Doha, Qatar, on June 10, 2014. Doha is one of the top hubs in the Middle East, which is the fastest-growing region in the world for air travel. A Miami-Dade Aviation Department economic impact study estimates that the new service by Qatar Airways will have an economic effect of 536 jobs and US$78.3 million in projected business revenue within Miami-Dade County.
  • Boeing and Aerolineas Argentinas, the flag carrier of Argentina, completed an agreement for 20 Next-Generation 737-800 airplanes. The agreement will play a key role in Aerolineas Argentinas' continued efforts to modernize its fleet. When the order is finalized, it will be posted as a firm order to Boeing’s website.
  • Bill Boesch, whose 50-year career in freight logistics includes top management positions at the world's largest air cargo operations, will give the keynote address at AirCargo 2014, a trade show for the airfreight industry. The event, sponsored by the Airforwarders Association, the Air & Expedited Motor Carriers Association, the Express Delivery & Logistics Association and the Airports Council International - North America, will take place at the Marriott World Center in Orlando, Fla.
  • The Boeing Company reported third-quarter core earnings per share increased 16 percent to US$1.80, driven by strong performance across the company's businesses. Third-quarter core operating earnings increased 20 percent to US$2.1 billion compared to the same period in 2012.
