AAPA supports third runway at Hong Kong Airport
The Association of Asia Pacific Airlines reiterated its support for the construction of a third runway at Hong Kong International Airport to meet future air cargo and passenger demand.
“Aviation has indisputably played a crucial role in Hong Kong’s successful development as a major tourism destination and a leading international center for business and professional services, trading and transport logistics,” Andrew Herdman, AAPA director general, said. “As living standards in the Asia Pacific region continue to rise, it is very clear that demand for air travel will continue to grow. Hong Kong needs a third runway in order to remain competitive as a major aviation hub, and take advantage of such future growth opportunities. Air transport exists to serve the local community, and fully recognizes the need to take into account environmental and social considerations when building the required new infrastructure. These are important concerns that need to be addressed and resolved.”
