DHL Global Forwarding, the air and ocean freight specialist of Deutsche Post DHL, has started operations from a new terminal at Budapest Airport. Budapest Airport Business Park has provided a state-of-the-art facility, strategically located with easy access to highways and direct connection to the airport. The new building will serve as a logistics center for both DHL Global Forwarding and DHL Freight. DHL Global Forwarding already started operations in August, whereas DHL Freight will move to its new premises in December. “Central and Eastern Europe is an important growth region for our group,” said Frank Appel, CEO Deutsche Post DHL, at the inauguration ceremony. “The new terminal is a significant milestone in DHL’s continuous course of expansion and by investing into our presence at Budapest Airport we lay the foundation for further supporting our customers with even more efficient logistic services.” To handle the rapidly growing volume of shipments, both DHL Global Forwarding and Freight will occupy a total of 17,000 sq. m. (183,000 sq. ft.), of which 8,000 sq. m. (86,160 sq. ft.) are designated for warehouse operations. Additionally, the new building, which will also serve as the new headquarters of DHL Global Forwarding and Freight Hungary, comprises 3,000 sq. m. (32,310 sq. ft.) for office facilities as well as 6,000 sq. m. (64,620 sq. m.) of maneuvering area. “Based on the positive feedback of customers and business partners, we have made the right decision by relocating our business to the new facility, said Zoltán Rezsek, CEO of DHL Global Forwarding Hungary. “Increased employee satisfaction also reaffirms to us that the new environment meets all expectations.
