Responding to the downing of MH 17 in Ukraine, the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) has scheduled a high-level meeting with the directors of the world’s major aviation organizations for July 29 in Montreal.
Attending the meeting will be the Directors General of the International Air Transport Association (IATA), Airports Council International (ACI) and the Civil Air Navigation Services Organization (CANSO).
This meeting will discuss the appropriate actions to be pursued in order to more effectively mitigate potential risks to civil aviation arising from conflict zones.
Participants will include : Olumuyiwa Benard Aliu, president of the ICAO Council Raymond Benjamin, ICAO Secretary General Tony Tyler, IATA Director General and CEO Angela Gittens, ACI Director General Jeff Poole, CANSO Director General.
