With the delivery of the ninth of twelve 777 freighters to China Southern Airlines, Boeing has hit the century mark, fulfilling 100 deliveries of the aircraft over the last six years. The first 777F was delivered to launch customer Air France in February 2009.
According to our sister publication Cargo Facts, Air France had second thoughts, taking delivery of only two of the five 777Fs it had originally ordered, then selling the other three to FedEx. However, other carriers have expressed satisfaction with the freighter, which has been a best-seller for the past five years. THAI Cargo was the first carrier in Southeast Asia to utilize the 777 freighter, when it ACMI leased two from Southern Air.
Boeing still has 53 outstanding orders for the 777F that have yet to be delivered. All told, the 777F has been delivered to 10 carriers and five lessors.
