AirBridgeCargo also has the option to purchase five more aircraft, which would bring its total 747-8F fleet to 10. The acquisition of these aircraft is integral to AirBridgeCargo’s long-term business strategy, according to a press release.
Tatyana Arslanova, executive president of AirBridgeCargo Airlines, said the decision to invest in this aircraft centered around its increased size and fuel-efficiency. “The introduction of the Boeing 747-8F represents a huge commitment to our customers since we are investing in state-of-the-art equipment to further expand our network,” she said in a statement.
“We have a firm belief that our established and new customers will greatly benefit from the additional features the airplane will provide, such as enhanced payload,” Arslanova continued. “With the introduction of the Boeing 747-8F, we’ll have the youngest freighter fleet in the industry while maintaining the highest standards of environmental compliance.”
AirBridgeCargo also operates a fleet of 11 Boeing 747-400 freighters. One of these aircraft has been deployed on the freight carrier’s new route to Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport, which commenced January 10.
