Freighter clips passenger jet at O’Hare

On Wednesday, May 30, an Eva Air Boeing 747 freighter taxiing at Chicago O’Hare International Airport clipped the rudder of an American Eagle Embraer 135. No injuries were reported, Federal Aviation Administration spokesman Tony Molinaro told Air Cargo World.

The incident occurred on Taxiway A at approximately 1 p.m. CST, according to Molinaro. American Eagle Flight 4265 was pulling into gate G18 after arriving from Springfield, Mo., when Eva Air Flight 661 clipped it. The cargo flight was scheduled to depart ORD for Anchorage, Molinaro told Air Cargo World.

The 18 passengers and three crew onboard the American Eagle flight, as well as the three crew operating the Eva Air aircraft, were quickly deplaned, according to reports out of Chicago. The FAA is currently investigating the incident.

Unfortunately, this wasn’t the only incident involving American Eagle this week. Reports out of Chicago indicated that American Eagle Flight 4096 skidded off the runway at O’Hare airport at 8:30 a.m. CST on May 31. The plane was reportedly bound for Tusla, Okla., but returned to O’Hare after experiencing mechanical difficulties upon takeoff.

No injuries were reported.
