Chris and Tina Leach started Air Charter Service 25 years ago from the basement of their home in London. Twenty-five years later, the charter company that handles urgent “go now” goods, dangerous goods, oversize loads, humanitarian aid and more – is a global company.
Leach is the son of a pilot, starting his career as a cargo aircraft loadmaster. He worked for two different airlines and a freight forwarder before founding the charter company in 1990. A local student, Justin Bowman, that the Leach’s rented a room in their home to, is now the group CEO of Air Charter Service.
“The current size of our operation is remarkable and something Tina and I are very proud of. Despite our size now, we still strive to retain the family values and personal service on which the business was originally built 25 years ago,” Leach said. “Over the course of the past two and a half decades our aims have naturally shifted somewhat and our ultimate aim now is to become the largest charter brokerage house in the world across all three sectors in the next five to ten years.”
Chris Leach was presented with a Lifetime Achievement Award for his work in aviation at the Cargo Airline of the Year Awards in 2013.
