In a move to help speed up cargo clearance, the Cairo Airport Cargo Co. (CACC) has gone live using the Hermes air cargo management system. The Hermes IT system , has been used by various airlines, cargo hubs, ground handlers and airports around the world. The system will also be installed into CACCs new terminal, which is under construction.
The CACC facility, which can currently handle 40,000 tonnes of cargo per day, is part of a project called “Cairo Cargo City,” which will eventually include three main terminals; one each for imports, exports and express business. When completed in the first quarter of 2015, the Cargo City will cover more than 150,000 square meters.
