Operating out of its Milan hub, Cargoitalia will fly to Liège, Belgium, and then continue on to Lomé every Sunday. The cargo carrier will then return to Milan or embark upon a route from Bamako, Mali, to Niamey, Niger, to Liege before arriving in Lomé the following day.
For Africa West Cargo, the new contract is all part of its expansion plan. In fact, the carrier recently added the African destinations of Freetown, Sierra Leone, and Monrovia, Liberia, to its flight schedule. The Cargoitalia route, however, will provide it with access to entirely new regions.
It’s a deal that will benefit both parties, maintains Cargoitalia Commercial Director Roberto Gilardoni.
“Africa West will receive the same ultra-reliable service from Europe for which Cargoitalia has become known since its re-launch, and it will also gain access to the U.S. and Far East markets served by our scheduled flights,” he said in a statement. “At the same time, Cargoitalia now has regular access to a number of key African destinations.”
The flights will be performed on Cargoitalia’s McDonnell Douglas MD-11F aircraft.
