Nippon Cargo Airlines (NCA) and Cargolux Italia S.p.A. have agreed on a partnership to start code-shared cargo flights as of Nov. 4, between Milan Malpensa Airport and Kansai International Airport, near Osaka, and between Milan and Narita International Airport, outside Tokyo. The deal is currently subject to approvals from the European and Japanese aviation authorities.
Nippon Cargo said the code-sharing agreement adds direct flights to Osaka and Tokyo, which will enhance its service offerings. The cooperation between Cargolux Italia and NCA will also include two weekly flights from Malpensa to Kansai and four weekly flights from Milan Linate to Narita, in addition to three weekly Cargolux flights from Luxembourg to Komatsu.
All flights benefit from connections to the Cargolux trucking networks in Europe and Japan. This agreement is expected to boost Cargolux’s presence significantly in the Japanese market, which has long played an important role in the group’s far eastern network.
