DHL Supply Chain, the logistics arm of the Deutsche Post DHL Group announced completion of a two-year project to consolidate the logistics operations of three divisions of Sanofi, a French multinational pharmaceutical company with extensive operations in Brazil. The consolidated distribution center is in Guarulhos, near São Paulo. The new facility consolidates Brazil operations and exports for the pharma giant.
At 200 million Euros between 2015 and 2020, the Guarulhos facility is one of the largest distribution centers for Sanofi worldwide, as well as DHL’s largest footprint in the Brazilian healthcare sector.
Guarulhos’ location near Sanofi’s industrial plants, consumer centers, and Brazil’s logistical hubs has helped Sanofi decrease operating costs by 30 percent. Costs are also kept down with automation and improved handling practices at the 36,000-square meter storage area, which has capacity for 50,000 pallet positions.
“The objective of this project was to simplify and enhance Sanofi’s storage operations and distribution network in Brazil. Consolidating these operations into a single distribution center has enabled us to foster synergies and streamline the entire process,” said Javier Bilbao, CEO DHL Supply Chain Brazil.
