Although this may seem complex, it’s actually very straightforward, maintains Roy Kinnear, senior vice president of cargo at Etihad. “In simple terms, if you are already trading with Etihad, it is business as usual,” he stated. “However, if you need access to more choices for your airfreight, this unique initiative allows you to begin transactions with Etihad quickly, founded on the strength of the Etihad relationship with WCA Family.”
In other words, all forwarders within the WCA Family can access Etihad Crystal Cargo’s global booking network, which spans 84 locales. Not only will this help alleviate the credit burden, Kinnear said, it will also “allow WCA Family members to leverage the strength of the Etihad relationship with WCA Family to provide an airway bill facility on behalf of its members.”
Kinnear believes the MoU will especially bolster WCA Family’s operations in Asia, the Indian subcontinent and Africa — key regions of focus for ECC. “We expect to be able to deliver exceptional value and routings to [WCA Family’s] members,” he stated.
It’s a win-win situation for both parties, WCA Family President David Yokeum said. “Etihad, as a company, has shown great vision by thinking outside the box and forging this partnership with a private organization,” Yokeum said in a statement. “I would like to commend Etihad Crystal Cargo for having the foresight and drive to engage so productively with the independent forwarding community.”
