In an effort to attract more main-deck cargo to its airfreight facility, Guarulhos International Airport (GRU) in São Paulo has launched an incentive program, giving a 100 percent landing-fee exemption to cargo-only operations, beginning March 27 and continuing through March 25, 2017.
Airlines wishing to participate in the program must meet minimum requirements, such as operating a new regular route between GRU and a country in Africa, North America, Asia, Europe or Oceania. The incentive operations also must be outside peak hours and take place at least once a week with a monthly regularity of at least 80 percent.
GRU closed 2015 with 2 percent market share growth in international air cargo. The airport’s market share was 38 percent between imports and exports.
