Sauberschwarz (pictured above), global head of carrier and gateway air logistics, has served as vice chairman of Cargo 2000 for the last three years. He will act as chairman until the annual general meeting of Cargo 2000 in Los Angeles in March 2014 when the board of directors will elect a new chairman and vice chairman.
Sauberschwarz succeeds Mattijs ten Brink, who has stepped down after moving from his post as senior vice president sales & distribution for Air France-KLM Cargo to become CEO of Dutch airline Transavia.
“Under the chairmanship of Mattijs ten Brink, Cargo 2000 has been strengthened through a series of initiatives such as our investment in a new and scalable reporting system to handle more data from more members, the revision and updating of our master operating plan and improvements to our Phase 1 airport-to-airport specifications,” Sauberschwarz said. “At the same time, these and other enhancements to our quality management system underline the commitment of our membership. Now, we are looking forward to the next stage in our development and would be delighted to see further cargo leaders joining our initiative.”
Air France-KLM Cargo confirmed that Gijsbert Woelders, vice president operations, will take over as the airline’s Cargo 2000 representative.
“The Board and members of Cargo 2000 have made considerable progress, and I am confident Max and the other senior air cargo industry executives driving C2K forward will continue to implement our strategy and bring further benefits for our members and their customers,” ten Brink said. “The challenging economic market has only helped to increase our focus on the value and importance of quality in the air cargo supply chain in terms of reducing costs caused by errors and eliminating duplication and unnecessary processes. This is essential for companies that want to retain their customers and grow their businesses. In this respect, Cargo 2000 members have a distinct advantage.”
In 2012, Cargo 2000 members measured nearly 15 million air cargo shipments against its quality management system.
