Cargo traffic for the Latin American carrier LATAM, and its subsidiaries, continued to be weak during August, especially in Brazil’s domestic and international markets. As a result, cargo traffic for LATAM Airlines Group decreased 12.9 percent in August, compared to the pervious year, from 344 million tonnes in 2014 to 299 million tonnes in 2015.
The cargo load factor decreased 7.9 points to 51.1 percent, year-over year. Cargo capacity, as measured in available freight tonne kilometers, increased 0.6 percent. While the carrier had reduced freighter operations during this period, this reduction in capacity was offset by an increased availability of belly space in its passenger aircraft.
