Oman Air Cargo digitalizes communications with CHAMP

Oman Air Cargo is the latest carrier to jump onboard the digitalization train by offering its customers electronic access to its capacity via Traxon cargoHUB, a digital messaging platform for carriers and forwarders from U.S.-based IT firm CHAMP.

The platform is compatible with IATA’s electronic air waybill (e-AWB) initiative, called e-Freight, which aims to replace customs, transport, commercial and special cargo documents with electronic versions.

CHAMP and Oman Air Cargo’s relationship formed at Oman Air’s e-AWB workshop last autumn, which was centered around the promotion of IATA’s e-Freight initiative.

LATAM Cargo, Lufthansa and most recently Air France-KLM-Martinair have each launched their own electronic communication initiatives over the last year, addressing the call to digitalize the air cargo industry thatsupply chain partners have been hesitant to answer for years, due to the scope of the shift.

“Any carrier can only be digitized as much as its clients and partners are. Therefore, it is vital that together we have the knowledge and solutions on the ground for everyone to feel their benefits,” said Mohammed Ali Al Musafir, senior vice president of commercial cargo at Oman Air.
