Oman Air Cargo implemented its new cloud-based enterprise resource planning (ERP) system through its IT provider, SmartKargo.

SmartKargo’s ERP system allows web access for the carrier’s agents and employees, and digitalizes key airfreight processes, including e-airway bills and associated documents in an “e-pouch.”

“We can now provide easy, secure access via integration with any business partner across the world, with little effort,” said Oman Air’s senior vice president of commercial cargo Mohammed Al Musafir.

The carrier selected SmartKargo as its IT provider in a contract that began in June 2016. The implementation and deployment of SmartKargo’s ERP system took less than two months, according to Al Musafir. “Within the first 24 hours, the Go-Live system registered a tremendous response from users globally,” he added.

Over the coming months, the booking system will also add the capability for customers to book via a mobile app.
