Calling Los Angeles “one of the great centers of aviation,” Qatar Airways CEO Akbar Al Baker announced that the airline has started daily, nonstop service between Los Angeles (LAX) and Doha’s Hamad International Airport (DOH).
Al Baker pointed out that not only is the new route great for passenger service, it will also lead to increased cargo capacity to the North American market. A fourth weekly freighter will begin serving LAX starting Jan. 19. Qatar has served the Los Angeles market since 2015.
The first scheduled flight between LAX and DOH took place on Jan. 1. The new route comes as the airline continues to expand and enhance services across the United States. Los Angeles is the eighth U.S. destination for Qatar Airways, with new services planned to Boston on March 16 and Atlanta on June 1, as well as a second daily flight scheduled to commence from New York’s JFK Airport in April. In addition to new routes, the airline has brought the A350 XWB to America, where it now flies a daily, nonstop service between Doha and Philadelphia.
