Tianjin Binhai International Airport (TSN)

Today, Silk Way West Airlines announced it would launch a twice-weekly freighter service from its global hub in Baku, Azerbijan (GYD) to Tianjin, China (TSN)– an industrial hub in northeastern China near Beijing.

The route will run on Friday and Sunday, the carrier said, although the launch date has not yet been released. Silk Way West president, Wolfgang Meier cited “a strong demand east- and west-bound with automotive and aerospace-related goods leading the commodity list, as rationale for launching the flights.

As the Azerbaijan-based carrier’s network grows, its freighter fleet continues to grow in parallel. Recently, our sister publication, Cargo Facts reported on Silk Way’s plans to lease another 747-400F to its fleet of more than ten 747F aircraft.
