- American Airlines Cargo began offering cargo service to and from Fort Myers, Fla., and Orange County, Calif. In addition, cargo service will now operate in new locations in the following cities: Kansas City, Kan., Denver and Las Vegas.
- Cathay Pacific Services Limited was appointed as the handling agent for Royal Brunei Airlines’ cargo operations and documentation at Hong Kong International Airport beginning in July.
- The U.S. Federal Aviation Administration announced that the Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University’s unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) test site program is ready to conduct research. The site is the last of six nationwide to be declared operational.
- Exp-Air will be the representing GSA for CAL Cargo Air Lines in Canada.
- The U.S. Federal Aviation Administration issued a new notice to airmen restricting U.S. operators from flying in the Damascus Flight Information Region, which includes all of Syria.
- CEVA Logistics announced the expansion of its Los Angeles/Torrance freight management operation. The site is located eight miles (12.8 kilometers) from Los Angeles International Airport.
- California’s workplace safety agency issued citations related to the death of Cesar Valenzuela, a ramp worker at Los Angeles World Airports who was killed in February when he was thrown from a vehicle that was not equipped with a functioning seatbelt. The California Department of Industrial Relations’ Division of Occupational Safety and Health fines against Menzies Aviation – Valenzuela’s employer at LAX – totaled US$77,250 (58,242 euros).
- Precision Aircraft Solutions began a 757-200 passenger-to-freighter conversion for SF Airlines. It will be delivered by the end of the year. This is Precision’s ninth conversion for the Chinese cargo airline.
