Turkish Cargo adds Kigali, Muscat to network

Turkish Cargo has added Kigali, Rwanda (KGL), and Muscat, Oman (MCT), to its network, strengthening its presence in East Africa and the Middle East.

The carrier cited Kigali as “a serious export destination, especially for goods being shipped from Johannesburg.” The destination will be incorporated into the carrier’s existing Entebbe, Uganda (EBB), route, which now runs from Istanbul (IST) to Wellington, South Africa (WEL), to EBB and back to IST on an A330-200F.

Turkish Cargo has done well in moving perishables for East African shippers that export items, such as flowers, out of the region. The carrier says it considers Muscat to be “an important import market” for the United States, Europe, Asia and Turkey.

With the addition of MCT, Turkish will incorporate the hub into its South Asian route, to fly IST to MCT to Hanoi (HAN) to Indira Gandhi (DEL) in India, and return to IST on an A330-200F.

With the launch of these new cargo flights, the carrier’s number of cargo destinations tallies at 85.
