Along with its robust passenger growth, Turkish Airlines is rapidly growing its cargo network and operations. Most recently, its Turkish Cargo division added freighter service to Lahore, Pakistan, and Bahrain.
The new weekly freighter service to Lahore is Turkish Cargo’s 17th dedicated airfreight route in the Far East, while the Bahrain route represents its eighth dedicated freighter service in the Middle East, as of April 7.
These freighter frequencies are in addition to Turkish’s already substantial cargo capacity currently available on the multiple passenger flights to cities in both the Far East and the Middle East regions.
At the start of the 2015 summer season, Turkish Cargo will be flying to more than 265 destinations –50 of which are served by freighters – in 109 countries.
Earlier this month, Turkish launched weekly freighter frequencies to Chicago O’Hare. It also opened a new 71,000-square-meter cargo facility in Istanbul this year. The carrier has geography on its side, with close access to both Europe and the Middle East from its hub in Istanbul. Turkish Cargo’s goal is to carry 1 million tonnes of freight annually by 2016.
