Volga-Dnepr carries 95-tonne compressor for oil refinery

  • August 26, 2013
A Volga-Dnepr Airlines AN-124-100 flew a 95-tonne compressor to Krasnoyarsk, Russia the same day locals held a festival at the airport in honor of Russian aviation.

The compressor, which arrived from Vladivostok, Russia, was destined for an oil refinery. It was airlifted on behalf of Transafe Logistics.

In order to distribute the weight of the shipment in the AN-124’s cargo hold, Volga-Dnepr’s engineers used special loading equipment weighing 16 tonnes.

The compressor was offloaded using three mobile cranes and was then transported to the Achinsky Oil Refinery, the biggest refinery in the Kransnoyarsk Krai region.

Volga-Dnepr Airlines and Transafe Logistics JSC have been cooperating on logistics projects for several years. Together, the two companies have organized deliveries such as the transportation of General Electric 60-tonne rotor turbines for the Surgut-2 Power Station from Moscow to Surgut, Russia, and the movement of a 50-tonne outsize oil refinery compressor for an isomerization system from Narita, Japan to Omsk, Russia.
