ABC will depart from either Maastricht or Amsterdam and stop at the Russian cites of Yekaterinburg and Krasnoyarsk before reaching Zhengzhou. The carrier will also utilize its extensive road-feeder service throughout Europe to move cargo to the Netherlands for air transport.
ABC executives hope to address the booming economic activity in Zhengzhou with this new route. As the capital of the Henan province, Zhengzhou is widely regarded as the financial epicenter of the region and is known for its strong technological sector.
Fortunately, ABC officials say, the flights will have more than enough room to transport Zhengzhou’s high-tech goods: Each flight will have a capacity of 112 tonnes.
To ABC Executive President Tatyana Arslanova, the economic implications of this new route are numerous. “The Chinese provinces are on the business radar of many airlines given their enormous market size and growth potential — and AirBridgeCargo is no exception,” she said in a statement. “We have all seen that 12th five-year development plan of China, which presupposes significant growth of many provinces, and we want to ensure ABC is there in the center of this development, building our presence and offering excellent air logistics solutions.”
Targeting Zhengzhou was also a strategic decision, Arslanova said. “The launch of three Boeing 747-400F flights per week from Zhengzhou reflects our confidence in the market and is part of our fleet and network development strategy for Southeast Asia,” she stated.
The addition of Zhengzhou to its flight network brings the total number of Chinese cities served by ABC to four.
