The equipment, including respirators, ECG monitors and medical aid kits delivered is destined for the Veterans General Hospital in Bangkok and is the result of a donation from the Toulouse University Hospital in France and a collection of some small medical equipment by the Banque Humanitaire du Pallet and Association Cariñitos, a Franco-Colombian adoptive parents’ group. In addition, the Foundation made a monetary donation of €50,000 to the Thai Red Cross to help support its children’s home in Bangkok.
Chokchai Panyayong, Thai senior executive VP, said: “We are proud to have been able to use this special delivery flight in such a meaningful way.”
In recent years, Airbus has built up a global network of airlines and relief organizations to support international humanitarian causes. The Airbus Corporate Foundation, launched in December 2008, has facilitated some 30 relief or goodwill flights to destinations worldwide, using delivery flights of new aircraft on many occasions to transport donated goods.
