Lufthansa Cargo and ANA Cargo are expanding the joint venture they established in December 2014 to cover European destinations. Effective Aug. 3, freight consignment routes from Europe to Japan will number 90 direct flights each week, beginning with additional frequencies from Germany, France, the U.K. and Austria. Other European countries are expected to follow.
The two carriers currently connect the European hubs of Frankfurt, Munich, Düsseldorf, London Heathrow, Paris CDG and Vienna, with major Asian airports, such as Tokyo Narita, Tokyo Haneda, Nagoya and Osaka. Peter Gerber, chairman and CEO of Lufthansa, said demand has been consistently high since the partnership began.
