Just before the start of this week’s Paris Air Show, Cargolux Italia made its first frequency from Milan Malpensa to Zhengzhou on June 13, ushering in weekly 747 freighter service. The flights, which depart on Saturdays, are routed Malpensa–Novosibirsk–Zhengzhou–Novosibirsk–Malpensa.
The weekend departures are designed to move shippers’ weekly production overseas. This includes Italian fashions, machinery and mechanical spare parts. Zhengzhou, the Chinese hub for Cargolux, is a major gateway to other Chinese markets, allowing Cargolux to use its trucking system to push goods out to other cities.
This frequency marks the first time Cargolux has made a commercial stop in Russia. Novosibirsk is an important Russian gateway for flowers, garments and machinery.
