The Luxembourg-based IT firm CHAMP Cargosystems, which has been gaining traction in the digital freight-booking realm, is participating in a government initiative in Canada to share screening data for improved security.
The IT company and Icelandair Cargo teamed up for Transport Canada’s Pre-Load Air Cargo Targeting (PACT) pilot, which is equivalent to the Air Cargo Advanced Screening (ACAS) requirements in the United States. CHAMP’s Traxon Global Security (TGS) platform allows carriers to submit shipment information prior to loading so that data can be assessed more quickly for potential security risks, which can speed up cross-border operations and strengthen confidence in security.
Icelandair Cargo has a previously existing relationship with the IT firm – utilizing its TGS platform to comply with the ACAS requirements for U.S. cargo imports. “We know from experience that our security compliance is in good hands with such a user-friendly solution,” said Bertel Ólafsson, cargo systems manager of Icelandair Cargo.
