Together with Finnish postal operator, Posti, and Bring, a subsidiary of Posten Norge, the Norwegian postal operator, DHL will now offer a business-to-customer service for parcel delivery in Scandinavia, Finland and the Baltic countries.
Beginning April 1, this expansion allows for cross-border e-commerce amongst seven countries. DHL has now increased its network to 16 of the most important European e-commerce markets. DHL Parcel is aiming to attain business in the cross-border online shopping trend in Europe. A recent EU commission report found that more than 56 percent of all Europeans have ordered something at least once in a non-domestic online shop.
In the Nordics and the Baltics, people are very open to online retailing and are above average users with individual expenditures higher the European average. This delivery network will be the largest operated in these markets and will include 6,500 parcel shops and parcel stations by the end of this year.
“Reliability and flexibility in the area of logistics are crucial factors for success in online retailing,” said Jürgen Gerdes, CEO Post-eCommerce-Parcel for Deutsche Post DHL. In addition to the new service and Saturday delivery, the partners will have a system whereby recipients will be notified as to the arrival time of their item. Additionally, there will be easy return service in all the European markets DHL Parcel operates in.
