Israel’s flag carrier, El Al Israel Airline, has joined digital airfreight booking platform cargo.one following a 12-week integration period, cargo.one announced on Oct. 10.
The first cargo booking with El Al via cargo.one was made by Hellmann Worldwide Logistics on a route from Frankfurt Airport (FRA) to Miami International Airport (MIA). According to the statement, all El Al routes departing Germany via Tel Aviv (TLV) and on to international destinations are now live and available for booking on cargo.one.
Regarding the decision for El Al Cargo to join the platform, in a separate blog post on cargo.one’s site, the carrier’s head of cargo Ronen Spira said, “Progressing down this journey as early as possible allows us to develop our capabilities over the coming months and years.” Of its move to begin its digitalization processes, Spira added, “To be frank, there is probably less risk in entering a young market and learning under those conditions than arriving late to a developed market without a good understanding of how to participate effectively.”
Other carriers that have signed on to cargo.one’s booking platform so far this year include Finnair Cargo, Lufthansa Cargo, AirBridgeCargo and CargoLogicAir.
