Car-racing fans would have been thrilled at the sight of 31 race cars being loaded onto four 747-4Fs at Frankfurt-Hahn Airport, headed for the next leg of the FIA (Federation Internationale De L’Automobile) World Endurance Championship in Austin, U.S., to be held on Sept. 19. The most recent race was in Nürburgring, Germany, on Aug. 30.
In addition to the race cars, three safety cars and other equipment were loaded, for a total of more than 400 tonnes of cargo. Partners in the effort included DHL Global Forwarding and clearance by VG Cargo. Transportation to the race track in Austin will be handled by DHL Global Forwarding, which will include the use of special trucks and attachment techniques.
