The Shanghai Pudong International Airport Cargo Terminal Co., Ltd. (PACTL) recently began regular operations at its new, CEIV-certified “Cool Center” on-site at Pudong International Airport.
With the new temperature-controlled terminal operating under the best practices of IATA’s Center of Excellence for Independent Validators (CEIV) program for pharmaceuticals, PACTL offers complete inbound and outbound cargo handling services in an “optimum environment for temperature-sensitive goods,” according to a company statement.
Open since April 6, PACTL’s Cool Center occupies a 3,500-square-meter footprint and has the capacity to handle 100,000 tonnes of cargo in an automated, temperature-controlled environment. The facility includes temperature measure alarms and 24-hour CCTV monitoring, both of which are integrated into the company’s internal warehouse management system to prevent temperature fluctuation and provide maximum transparency to PACTL customers. In addition to freezers and coolers, the center is also equipped with refrigerated dollies and thermo-blankets for a seamless transfer of goods between apron stands at the warehouse.
Perishables moving through Shanghai Pudong include products from the biomedical and pharmaceutical industries, as well as edible perishables, such as dairy, produce, seafood, exotic fruit and vegetables, meat and poultry.
