Already one of Kuehne + Nagel’s biggest customers, GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) has agreed to have K+N transport raw pharmaceutical materials to trade customers on its behalf at least through 2021.
K+N said it was chosen for the five-year partnership because the pharma conglomerate required a global, end-to-end partner with an existing track record with GSK. The forwarder also said it had made a significant investment in pharmaceuticals and consumer products logistics over the years.
This is one of K+N’s biggest customer awards, the company said, involving several pharma manufacturing units and a variety of specific routes encompassing more than 100 countries. To handle the load, K+N said it will take an integrated approach, combining air, sea and overland services, and coordinating the shipments to Logistics Control Centers in four regional hubs.
