Hong Kong Air Cargo Terminals Limited (Hactl), the largest cargo handling agent in Hong Kong, has renewed its franchise contract with the Hong Kong Airport Authority for another 10 years. The new extension will kick in as of July 2018, when the current contract is set to expire.
“I don’t believe we can send a clearer signal about our total commitment both to the airport and to the future of our business,” said Hactl CEO Mark Whitehead following the contract signing. “We are also committed to ongoing investment in capital equipment, systems and our staff.”
While Whitehead said that “Hactl is here to stay,” he also cautioned that “all future predictions and expressions of confidence” in the facility will be contingent upon the completion of the airport’s third runway project to ensure that demand for logistics services can be met. “Standing still is not an option,” he added.
