IAG Cargo has introduced a new e-booking service, with the initial launch in Spain. Forwarders using the service now have the ability to register online with a user-friendly interface. With its enhanced features, such as template bookings and auto-rating, IAG Cargo said forwarders can book shipments in less than three minutes.
The Spanish rollout, IAG said, is the beginning of the carrier’s global commitment to IATA’s goal of using e-freight to eliminate mounds of paperwork in the airfreight business. Customers are able to complete multiple bookings at each visit and use the site found at iagcargo.com, to manage all of their bookings, even if made by phone. Additional features will be added over the next year.
“The service will not only make us more effective as a business but will make it easier than ever for customers to do business with us,” said Angel Cabeza Rivas, head of IT at IAG Cargo.
IAG estimated that, within the first few weeks of the rollout, about 15 percent of all shipments ordered in Spain were conducted vie the e-booking system.
