Canada-based KF Aerospace (formerly Kelowna Flightcraft) is going global. Beginning May 30, the Toronto-based carrier will begin frequencies four times per week between Toronto and Europe by way of Brussels Airport.
The carrier, which owns a fleet of 727 and DC-10-30 freighters, also plans daily service between Toronto and Atlantic Canada via Greater Moncton International Airport in New Brunswick. The company will then expand within two months to add routes to Western Canada through Vancouver and Calgary, along with all of Asia, through Anchorage, Alaska.
Already, KF’s airfreight service for Atlantic Canada is being described as a huge benefit for companies in the area, especially the seafood industry. Shane Esson, senior vice-president and general manager of Midland Transport Limited, told Kelowna Now that the service “has long been needed for those looking to grow and export into new markets.” Kales Airline Services will be the general sales agents for KF Aerospace in Europe and elsewhere.
For nearly 40 years, KF had been Canada’s largest cargo operator, with a contract to provide overnight courier service for Purolator and Canada Post, before losing the contract to Cargojet last year. Cargojet officially took over the overnight service contract on April 1 this year.
Barry Lapointe, founder and CEO of KF Aerospace, said the old Kelowna Flightcraft airline had provided “99 percent reliability” with its courier services. “We look forward to providing the same level of regularly scheduled service to Canadian companies reaching into Europe, USA, Asia and points beyond,” he added.
