Today’s inaugural Qatar Airways flight from Doha to Atlanta’s Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport adds bellyhold cargo capacity to the carrier’s extant four weekly flights between the two airports.
With the addition of daily 777 passenger flights, Qatar Airways offers a combined 744 tonnes of capacity per week on its Doha-Atlanta route, which the carrier contends is necessary to meet “robust demand.”
According to Forbes, Atlanta is Qatar’s 10th U.S. destination, and the third new destination in the US this year, following Los Angeles in January and Boston in March. Just last month, Qatar doubled capacity on its New York-Doha route, adding a second daily flight. The airline now offers 5,000 seats a day between the US and Qatar.
