Nippon Cargo Airlines signs on as first Asian carrier to cargo.one

Japanese carrier Nippon Cargo Airlines (NCA) has joined digital airfreight booking platform cargo.one. According to cargo.one, NCA is the first Asian carrier to join the platform.

Freight forwarders will soon be able to book NCA’s maindeck capacities on the cargo.one platform 24/7 with instant confirmation. The current platform includes the newly developed “one.connect” technology layer, which will allow NCA to more quickly integrate its legacy system with the platform based off of data from past airline integrations with the platform, cargo.one said.

By joining the platform, NCA intends to reduce manual distribution efforts as well as continue its expansion into the European market by accessing cargo.one’s global user base of over 300 freight forwarding companies.

Integration work to connect NCA’s core cargo system iCargo to cargo.one will start later this year. Both companies anticipate the launch of NCA capacities on cargo.one will be live in late first quarter of 2020.

“Joining cargo.one is a logical step for us in executing our digital strategy,” said Satoshi Shimura, Vice President, General Manager and Head of Business Digitalization of NCA. “It will enhance our customers’ experience and help us reach new customer segments.”

Other carriers that have signed on to cargo.one’s booking platform so far this year include El Al CargoFinnair CargoLufthansa CargoAirBridgeCargo and CargoLogicAir.
