Panalpina reduced its paper and water use, energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions, according to its 2014 corporate sustainability report.
The company said it has made efforts to find effective ways to reduce its impact on the environment and to be a responsible partner for its key stakeholders and the communities it serves. Corporate-wide greenhouse emissions decreased by 7 percent, including a 21 percent decrease attributable to business- related travel. Energy used for heating decreased by 14 percent, paper usage by 8 percent and water consumption by 9 percent.
Panalpina’s PanGreen program is the focal point for its sustainability initiatives, enjoying strong support across the organization.
The carbon disclosure project score for 2014 will not be available for a few months due to the comprehensive data analysis involved. The last carbon disclosure project score showed a 10-point increase from 2012 to 2013 to 85 points. The company expects to maintain or even improve on the score once the 2014 data has been evaluated by CDP.
