FedEx Express has flown nearly 91 tonnes of food to Nairobi, Kenya, as part of a two-flight charitable mission to the Horn of Africa. Working alongside UNICEF, FedEx is transporting nutrient-rich foods to severely malnourished children in south and central Somalia, company executives said. It’s an initiative Gerald P. Leary, FedEx Express President of Europe, the Middle East, the Indian Subcontinent and Africa, endorses wholeheartedly. “The crisis in the Horn of Africa calls for a prompt and unwavering response,” he said in a statement. “I am both humbled and honored that FedEx can lend its robust logistics expertise and global transportation capabilities to help UNICEF to bring much-needed relief to the children of this region.”JetBlue Airways and Brazilian carrier TAM Airlines have announced that they will be code-sharing on flights to Brazil and beyond from Orlando International Airport and John F. Kennedy International Airport. TAM currently operates twice-daily service between Orlando and Sao Paulo and multiple daily flights from JFK airport to Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paulo. lson Shinzato, vice president of planning and alliances at TAM Airlines, believes this new agreement will bolster travel between the U.S. and Brazil tremendously. “Brazilians are traveling more frequently to other countries and this partnership is important to enhance our reach in the United States, one of the preferred destinations of our clients,” says Nelson Shinzato, TAM Airlines’ planning and alliances vice president. “JetBlue clients will enjoy our spirit to serve, modern airplanes, and high-quality services.”Cargo Aircraft Management Inc. (CAM) has delivered a Boeing 767 wide-body freighter to Rio Linhas Aéreas S.A. The Brazilian flag carrier will dry-lease the aircraft from the aircraft-leasing subsidiary of Air Transport Services Group for nearly five years and benefit from engine maintenance services via CAM’s contract with Delta Tech Ops. This isn’t the first 767-200 to enter Rio’s fleet, however. CAM delivered a similar aircraft to Rio earlier this month, making it the first special freighter to receive certification from the Brazilian civil aviation authority.IJS Global has leased office space at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol and will move into it next year. Featuring 2,000 square meters of workable room, the new facility will be home to both IJS Global Netherlands and IJS Global Headquarters.
