- Vueling (pictured above), the largest low cost airline in Spain, has taken delivery of its first A320 aircraft equipped with Sharklet fuel saving wing tip devices. It is the first Spanish carrier to do so. Sharklets are newly designed wing-tip devices that improve the aircraft’s aerodynamics and significantly cut the airline’s fuel burn and emissions.
- Global logistics provider Dachser Transport of America Inc. announced that parent company Dachser increased group revenue by 3.7 percent compared to 2011.
- Freight transportation provider Averitt Express has rolled out expanded electronic billing options called “Paperless Invoicing.” Averitt’s customers can now receive invoices via email directly to their inbox.
- United Cargo has expanded its service for temperature-sensitive shipments by adding nine new cities to its worldwide TempControl network, increasing the number of locations to 37. The new airports are Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, Boston Logan International Airport, New York John F. Kennedy International Airport, Cleveland Hopkins International Airport, Honolulu International Airport, Seattle-Tacoma International Airport, Manchester Airport, Milano Malpensa Airport and Istanbul Atatürk Airport.
- Logistics company C.H. Robinson Worldwide, Inc. has been named one of America’s Top Workplaces by WorkplaceDynamics. C.H. Robinson was ranked No. 65 nationwide among 872 organizations with more than 1,000 employees that participated in regional top workplaces programs.
- The Export-Import Bank of the United States, an independent federal agency, authorized more than $190 million in financing to support the export of Boeing 737-900ER aircraft to El Al Israel Airlines. According to Boeing, this will help create more than 1,300 American jobs.
- Boeing celebrated the 7,500th delivery of the 737. The aircraft was delivered to
Malaysia-based Malindo Air. - CEVA Logistics, a global supply chain management company, has won the Secure Warehouse award at Shanghai Pudong Airport Cargo Zone for the second time. The award was presented to CEVA by the Pudong Airport Warehouse Security Steering Committee. Every month, the committee organizes a surprise inspection and gives a monthly appraisal to inspected warehouses. At the end of the year, the award is presented to a group of warehouses which have accumulated the highest annual score.
