- dnata continues to develop cargo infrastructure at its newest locations. The company has recognized the need for enhanced services at Glasgow, Birmingham, East Midlands, Newcastle and Gatwick airports, and moved Manchester warehouse space to larger, refurbished facilities.
- An Airbus A330-200 of KLM Royal Dutch Airlines completed the longest commercial flight with sustainable jet fuels ever performed by an Airbus aircraft. The aircraft took off with a 20 percent blend of sustainable fuel made of used cooking oil, for a 10-hour flight from Schiphol Airport to the Dutch Caribbean island of Aruba.
- C.H. Robinson created a new global business brand called Robinson Fresh that speaks to the company’s focus on fresh products. The launch of Robinson Fresh unifies the C.H. Robinson, FoodSource, Rosemont Farms and Timco Worldwide entities under one brand.
- Astral Aviation has become a member of the African Airlines Association, which is headquartered in Nairobi. Astral will work closely with the association on matters relating to cargo, with the objective of lobbying for the liberalization and promotion of air cargo in Africa and to advocate against the high cost of cargo-related fees and taxes in the continent.
- China Airlines was accredited as a Qualified Envirotainer Provider by Envirotainer, producer of the temperature-controlled air cargo container. The accreditation was awarded to five global stations: Taipei, Tokyo, San Francisco, Frankfurt and Amsterdam.
- China Eastern selected Unisys Corporation client TravelSky’s new booking and shipment management portal, China Cargo Sky Portal, which is based on the Unisys Cargo Portal Services software. As the two portals share the same core software, Unisys and TravelSky are able to interconnect them to offer clients access to carriers and forwarders in a one-stop air cargo booking site.
- Cargojet up-gauged its Edmonton, Canada, service from a Boeing 727 to the newer and larger Boeing 757 freighter. The aircraft up-gauge represents a 25 percent capacity increase out of Edmonton International Airport’s Cargo Village.
- WiseTech Global, the technology company behind supply chain platform CargoWise One, announced a new business partnership with major ERP integrator Axline. With multiple offices in China, Hong Kong and Taiwan, Axline will put CargoWise One within reach of Chinese logistics providers.
- Lufthansa Consulting, a management consulting company and an independent subsidiary of the Lufthansa Group, founded Lufthansa Consulting Ltda. (Limitada), a legal entity in Rio de Janeiro as the representative and operational base for its activities in South America.
- China Southern Airlines became a member of the International Air Transport Association’s Cargo 2000. China Southern is the first airline in Mainland China to obtain the C2K certification.
- TNT Express completed the sale of its specialist fashion supply chain business in the Netherlands, TNT Fashion Group B.V., to a consortium of Belspeed and Netlog Group.
- Cargolux Airlines International expects to operate scheduled services to Zhengzhou, China, beginning June 14. Following the cancellation of the inaugural flight initially planned for April 24, Cargolux has maintained an ongoing dialogue with the Civil Aviation Authority of China in order to get Zhengzhou approved as a regular commercial destination.
- Boeing’s 737 MAX surpassed the 2,000th order. It has reached 2,000 orders faster than any other Boeing airplane in history.
- The International Air Cargo Association (TIACA) and the Cool Chain Association have entered into a strategic partnership.
- Ruslan International handled the movement of a massive deck loader for the Boeing 747 Dreamlifter. The wheeled loader was winched onto an An-124 at Riverside Air Force Base in Riverside County, Calif., and flown to Charleston Air Force Base in South Carolina.
